Information for Artistes

Important Notice

*** Local Area ***

We would ask Artistes/Agents not to book another event within a 40 mile radius and a 3 month window prior to & after our event as it may well affect ticket sales.

This would include all venues in Oxford, Chipping Norton, Banbury, Abingdon, Witney, Wantage, Charlbury, plus folk clubs in Nettlebed, Lechlade, Highworth and the Parlour Concerts in Ardley

Dear Performers
We are a small Folk Club and sometimes the contracts we receive from artistes/agents are written for bigger venues or festivals. These can be inappropriate to our situation, so to avoid misunderstanding please read the following.

Venue
Our club uses Tiddy Hall (150 seats)  but from time to time we will use other venues of different capacities.
We will, in discussion with performers, decide which venue we think will be the best suited to the gig. However, we reserve the judgement to make the final decision. The implications, financial and otherwise, of each venue will be made clear during the initial discussions.

Bookings
Bookings are made on the basis of recommendation or having heard or seen the performer(s) play.
Please only send CDs if you have nothing online for us to watch or listen to.

Fees
For both venues the performers receive 80 per cent of the net profit. We cannot offer large guarantees. Where a guarantee has been agreed then it will be 75 per cent of net profit

Publicity
We do not have the capacity or budget to print high quality posters & flyers for each individual performer we therefore look to you and/or to your agents to provide such materials. For the publicity we are able to do we would appreciate a succinct biography, a selection of press comments/ CD reviews etc (where available) and good quality, high resolution photographs.

For our part we work extremely hard publicising  each event via Posters, Local Radio, Various Websites, Newsletter, Local Papers & Magazines and of course word of mouth. As part of the overall effort, we also appreciate and look to guest musicians appearing to self-publicise and to post the date on their own websites. We also have a steadily growing mailing list. We make our own generic posters about the club.

Support Artistes
Support performers usually get to play 30 minutes. (however be aware there is no guarantee of a main spot in the future).

They also need to be aware that they are not paid.

If the main performers do not wish to have a support then that should be made clear at the beginning of negotiations. We would hope this would only be in exceptional circumstances as it is the policy of the organisers to provide opportunities for up-and-coming acts.

PA spec and availability
The Tiddy Hall is large and a PA will be supplied. Performers must provide the organisers with a detailed specification of their requirements at least two weeks in advance of the gig date.

Artistes are welcome, of course, to use their own PA.

Either way, we reserve the right to determine the overall volume of the performance to suit the venue and the preferences of our audience.

Guest Tickets
We are happy to provide some guest tickets for events at the Tiddy Hall but I’m afraid for events at The Swan (if we ever return there) there is not enough seating.

Overnight accommodation
For those guests who wish or need to stay over after the gig, we’re always very happy to discuss the option when organising the event.
We regret we do not have a budget stretching to hotel or B&B accommodation - not without the costs being defrayed from the fee.
